The Winter Wonder Tonic1

November 17, 2016

As the days shorten and temperature drops, our immune system is required to seriously up its game in order to defend our body from the extra germs and viruses that surround us.

Our bright orange concoction, TONIC1 might just be the key to your survival during the Winter, thanks to the two hero ingredients Sea Buckthorn and Siberian ginseng. Both of these plants thrive in harsh cold climates so it makes sense that they would hold properties to help us humans withstand the effects of the cold Winter months.

The Sea Buckthorn berry is a powerhouse of vitamins, minerals and omega fatty acids. One of these tiny berries contains 12 times more Vitamin C than an orange. This abundance of Vitamin C also helps make the phytochemicals in the Siberian ginseng extract more bio available (as does ginger, which we’ve included for the same reason). Our Sea Buckthorn berries come to us directly from Latvia, and are cold pressed in their raw state. The adaptogen Siberian ginseng root contains active components called Eleutherosides and has traditionally been used to prevent colds, flu and to increase energy levels. Adaptogenic botanicals are also widely reported to help the body manage the stress response, something with which we can all use help. For the geeks out there, our Siberian ginseng is a potent standardised Siberian ginseng extract containing at least 1.2% of eleutherosides.

Nothing happens by chance in The Lab. Every single ingredient is meticulously sourced and included for the synergistic effect when combined with the other ingredients in the recipe. Rest assured that we use the best quality plants available, less froth more function is the Botanic Lab creed.

TONIC1’s flavour owes its sharp overtone to Sea Buckthorn tartness, its sweetness from raw wildflower honey and orange juice, and herbaceaous notes from rosemary and lemon verbena. Probably the most sensual way to take care of your immune system this Winter!
