With 2017 set to be the year of botanicals it's an exciting time for Botanic Lab as many of the ingredients that we champion come into the spotlight. Botanical complexity is at the heart of everything we do (the clue is in our name). We have relished the challenge of incorporating these powerful and interesting ingredients into drinks that will excite your taste buds. That's not always the easiest of tasks. In meaningful quantities many potent botanicals have a challenging flavour and are avoided by mainstream food producers.
In this series of posts we'd like to share with you some of our favourite botanical ingredients - the history, origin and traditional uses and give you an insight into the very special plants that we put at the centre of our drink creations.
First up is the super root (and powerful adaptogen) Ashwagandha. Celebrated in Ayurvedic medicine for the compelling results it has shown in lowering cortisol and balancing hormones, in India, ashwagandha is known as strength of the stallion. It has traditionally been used to strengthen the immune system after illness.
However, ashwagandha is experiencing recognition on a wider scale thanks to a burst of recent studies in pharmacology demonstrating its positive effects on stress, mental cognition, performance and vitality.
Some of the most important decisions at Botanic Lab relate to sourcing. We want to showcase these ingredients in the best possible way, which means sourcing organic, high quality ingredients with some knowledge of the producer and the processes they use. Quality and strength varies greatly with some of these lesser known ingredients so we put in the extra work and research to bring you the very best. Our ashwagandha extract is the highest grade concentrate in the world, created via a process that took 14 years of R&D to refine, produced organically using a unique extraction process absent of alcohol or chemicals.
Our supplier is the only ashwagandha manufacturer in the world with its own farms, production facilities, testing laboratories, research centre and distribution, guaranteeing traceability at ever step from field to bottle.
You can find 1000mg of organic, full spectrum Ashwaganda root in our Tonic 2. A prime example of the Botanic Lab trademark, 'Less froth, more function'.
